Judy understands the issues that influence our community the most.  Real change in our community and in our Commonwealth can only come through bold ideas.  Read below to learn about how Judy will work to bring us the change we need.

Improving Opportunities Through Education
Minimize
I recognize how valuable my public education was to me and I want to ensure that all of our children have the same educational opportunities that can best prepare them for their life.

As a State Senator, I will be a champion for education in Pennsylvania by:
  • Reforming the way we pay for education to develop adequate and fairly allocated school funding methods,
  • Providing equal opportunity through improved early education,
  • Supporting families and communities as equal partners in education,
  • Providing teachers and other educational professionals with all of the resources that they need to develop our children into functioning members of society, and
  • Ensuring that students have good, safe educational environments and opportunities.

Supporting Working Families Through a Stronger Economy
Minimize
As a businesswoman and working mother, I know that our Pennsylvania economy is headed in the wrong direction.

Unfortunately, our government has not done enough to improve the economic security of Pennsylvanians working in manufacturing, agriculture, or in services like health care and education.  We hear politicians making promises to save jobs and help our working families.  But stable jobs keep disappearing, as the cost of gas escalates and some are even losing their homes in an unstable housing market.

It is time for leadership who understands the demands on a working family in the 15th District.  We need to ensure that our community is a place where our kids will want to live, work, and start their families.

Changing the Broken System in Harrisburg: Making Government Better
Minimize

State government in Pennsylvania is not working.  Each year reveals a different problem with the way state government works.

While there have been some reforms since the 2005 Pay Raise, Pennsylvania still has one of the most secretive and closed state governments in all of the United States.  Pennsylvania state government must be held to the same ethical standards that Central Pennsylvanians hold to in their own lives.

In order to fix the broken system, I will be a tireless advocate to bring more integrity to state government by:

  • Making government more transparent,
  • Reforming our campaign finance system,
  • Requiring full lobbyist disclosure,
  • Enforcing ethical standards,
  • Reforming our legislative calendar, and
  • Creating a more balanced legislature.

Creating a Cleaner Environment and Economy for Pennsylvania
Minimize
Rising energy costs are hurting Pennsylvanians, taking a bite out of everything from business profits and workers’ wages to state and local budgets.  We need to take major steps to conserve our environmental resources so that future Pennsylvanians can enjoy all that our beautiful Commonwealth has to offer.

Pennsylvania must play a role in reducing this country’s dependence on foreign oil.  We need to get serious about investing in alternative energy technologies and processes; we must take steps to reduce our energy usage through conservation; and we need to become more energy efficient by purchasing and installing energy conservation tools and alternative energy technologies.

In the Senate, I will support legislation that promotes new green collar jobs, sustainable development, investment in alternative fuel technologies and conservation.  I will invest in a clean energy economy, encourage environmentally-friendly choices by individuals and communities, and protect our environmental resources through better conservation.
